So… what exactly is the Safari Hunt?

Our dive staff hides stuffed safari animals throughout the dive park. Certified divers then search for and retrieve them — and every recovered animal earns the diver a chance at over $2000 in prizes! We also host a fundraiser raffle, with all proceeds going to support Newton & McDonald County Christmas for Kids, a local nonprofit helping children in need during the holiday season.

Why Attend?

  • Take part in a fun and unique annual dive tradition

  • Win dive gear and prizes by finding hidden safari animals

  • Practice your search and navigation skills in a relaxed environment

  • Enjoy a full day of diving, socializing, and giving back

  • Help raise funds for a local holiday charity supporting children

  • Open to all certified divers — great for individuals, dive buddies, and families

Official Safari Hunt Rules:

  • All divers must show proof of certification and sign a liability waiver.

  • Junior divers require a parent or legal guardian’s signed waiver.

  • No animals are hidden deeper than 33 feet.

  • Divers must use the buddy system unless solo certified and properly equipped.

  • Only one animal per diver may be retrieved.

  • The dive time limit is 45 minutes or until a diver reaches 700 PSI.

  • If you hear a honking signal, the time is up — ascend safely and return to shore.

  • If not all animals are found, prize winners will be drawn from eligible participants.

  • Good sportsmanship and safe diving behavior are expected at all times.

  • Dive propulsion vehicles (DPVs) are not allowed.

  • Surface and land-based safety divers will be on site — please give an OK signal when surfacing.

  • No alcoholic beverages are permitted.

  • Each stuffed animal is numbered; this determines the prize drawing order.

  • Unsafe behavior or failure to follow safety guidelines may result in disqualification and removal from the event.

  • All divers must be in the water by 12:50 PM for the group photo.

  • If you or your buddy are not in the water and ready to go at 1:00 PM, you will not be permitted to participate. This ensures a consistent 45-minute hunt window for everyone.
