You know it is going to be an interesting day when you try to drink out of the sippy cup that is to the right of your laptop when your drink is sitting on the left. Ha. I may or may not have tried that this morning. Then when you’re typing that sentence you realize you got the word left and right in the wrong order. (Mine is on the right… the sippy is on the left). Hello Wednesday! Some day I’ll have to share how I’m usually writing up these posts. But anyway it is Wednesday and that means Diver Interview Day. I love Diver Interview Day. I really do. And we try to feature new and old divers a like because we can all learn something from each other. That’s the greatness of this sport! So today’s diver happens to be an old co-worker of mine. It was fun to watch her walk through the door a few months ago to sign up for classes and then to be at the lake the weekend she got certified. So it is now my pleasure to introduce today’s Diver Interview, Rachael Crofford.
How did you get started diving?
My brother in law was already certified. We were getting ready to go on a family vacation and he didn’t have anyone to dive with. I’d been debating it for a while and decided to go for it.
How long have you been diving?
Not long. I think I’m going on 2 months.
How many dives do you make in a typical year?
So far I’ve done certification dives plus 2 in Florida.
What other hobbies do you have?
I don’t really have very many hobbies… none really. Sure you do, your son .
Where is your favorite place to dive?
I really enjoyed the diving in Florida. We dove the Danny. It is a memorial set up by this guys parents after he was killed in a car accident.
What is your most comical dive experience?
The first time in the ocean, I didn’t have enough weight and I couldn’t sink. But there was a shark about 10 feet below us that you could see clearly, I just couldn’t get down to see him.
What is your occupation?
School Counselor
Words of wisdom/tips or tricks for fellow divers?
If you’re renting equipment, make sure that it is in good working condition before you leave the shop.
