How much fun did you have this past weekend? Well, if you went to Mermet Springs, I can help answer that question (hopefully…ha!). If you weren’t able to go, I just want to say you missed out on some totally GREAT diving and loads of fun! And we missed you!
This blog started out in 2013 with a blog post about Mermet Springs. Then a year later there was a 2014 post about Mermet Springs. Now here we are 2 years later just having returned from Mermet Springs. Other than dives were different, people might have been different, etc, what more could be said about traveling to Mermet Springs you might ask? Well I’m so glad that you decided to show up to this cozy little corner of the Internet today to learn:
10 Reasons Why YOU should travel to Mermet Springs to dive the Extreme Sports Scuba Way:
1. You’re diving in September.
What more could you ask for? That’s it. That’s all you need to know. Bam… I could end the post on that note, but I won’t.

2. Where else can you go and dive through a 727 that actual famous people acted in.
Remember, the 727 in the quarry was in the film U.S. Marshals with Tommy Lee Jones, Wesley Snipes, & Robert Downey, Jr. just to name a few. Yes, I like to name drop here. Btw, in the future I have an excellent post just on this plane…
3. When we jokingly say, if there’s food, they will come, we’re not kidding.
4. Lots of great inside jokes/stories are made…
“Here’s a story of a lovely Lady, who was bringing up three Very Lovely Girls….” Anyone? Bueller? Okay… moving on now that that song is stuck in my head for the 590,093,309,266 time.
5. While it is fun diving at Beaver Lake in the cove or even if you have the opportunity to dive the other area’s of the lake…
it is fun to go and play in waters that you might not experience all the time. Glen Faith and his wife PJ and their highly trained staff will do anything they can to make sure that you have an enjoyable time at Mermet Springs. Case in point… I interviewed Glen for the blog (I tell you, this post will be awesome) and as I was leaving I jokingly told him I had one complaint. He asked me what it was. I told him that they didn’t have a Christmas tree ornament I could get for my tree. He made a note to himself and I laughed. One of his staff members was standing there and said when I came back next time there would probably be one. I jokingly said oh just send it to me early and they said it would probably happen. Do I expect that, no, but my point is, the staff is GREAT and willing to do what they can to make sure you have an enjoyable experience!
6. I have had the opportunity to go to Mermet Springs now the last 3 trips.
Typically on the main dock (and sometimes subsequent docks) they have someone sitting there to make sure all is going well. The man who has sat on the main dock the last 3 years, Bill, he makes it all worth it. He is knowledgeable, helpful, funny, and just so darn cute!
7. Where else can you go and eat dinner as a group at a restaurant called Fat Edd’s. I mean seriously!
8. One thing to be said for ALL dive trips…
there are just stories that if you weren’t there, you might not believe them. And you’ll talk about them for YEARS to come.
9. Earlier I mentioned the Boeing 727 but there is also a school bus, an ambulance, a motorcycle, a helicopter and the list goes on.
Plus you have fish galore to feed. And then…. There are catfish, I hear you can feed them but I don’t know… Yikes! And even Spoonbill.

10. You get to hang out with your friends who really have become your family.
We’re such an eclectic group of people who fit together nicely and compliment each other. Yes, sometimes we fight like brothers and sisters, we pull pranks on each other, we get songs stuck in each other’s heads, etc, but at the end of the day, we’re just one big happy family!
